Answering common customer questions

For all of the customers we’ve helped move to iMIS EMS, one of the more nerve-wracking requirements is the switch to iMIS Pay as the credit card gateway. And, I totally understand! To help alleviate some of the anxiety of moving gateways, I’ve put together answers to common questions clients ask me about iMIS Pay.

Key Terms

Before we move to the list, I’m including some important definitions to keep us on track:

  • iMIS Pay: The name of the gateway that you set up in iMIS.
  • iMIS Pay Central/Pay Central: The name of all payment related areas in iMIS.
  • iMIS Pay Central Service: The new name for DataVault.

As of today, it’s required

iMIS EMS Enterprise, a.k.a. iMIS Cloud, requires the iMIS Pay gateway. No other gateways are supported at this time.

Sign up with OpenEdge

Once you initiate your Cloud migration with ASI you’ll sign-up with OpenEdge. OpenEdge is a division of Global Payments and provides your merchant portal, much like PayPal provides a merchant portal for the PayFlow Pro gateway. The sign-up process involves a filling out some contact information and specifying which type of quote you’d like. Once OpenEdge receives and processes your sign-up a representative will contact you for more details needed to create your account. Before going live with your migration OpenEdge will also provide training on using the merchant portal.

You’ll pay the same rate or less

Pricing for iMIS Pay is competitive. Processing fees for credit cards have been pre-negotiated for a 0.60% interchange rate and $0.25 per transaction. If you’re currently paying less in processing fees be sure to obtain a statement from your current processor and request a custom quote at sign-up as OpenEdge will try to match what you’re paying now. Lastly, the iMIS Pay integration comes with your software. There are no extra set up or installation fees.

It’s secure

iMIS Pay maintains PCI compliance, as well as GDPR compliance. iMIS Pay is also ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certified which means that ASI adheres to “the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and continually improving an information security management system”. If you plan to use Autopay in the EMS version of iMIS, rest assured that these transactions are safe too. Credit card numbers for recurring transactions are tokenized by the iMIS Pay Central Service after the initial transaction and then purged.

Desirable features are available

  • iMIS Pay supports ACH/eCheck transactions. If you’re interested in accepting ACH/eCheck payments make sure to indicate this during your sign-up with OpenEdge.
  • You can issue refunds right from Staff Site.
  • Autopay is supported for membership dues and recurring donations.
  • Reconciliation is calculated on a monthly basis, not per transaction.
  • Reporting is provided both in the OpenEdge portal and on the Pay Central Dashboard on Staff Site.
