Key Goals

In the words of Joe Lakis, President of the Center For Workplace of Compliance, the CWC is “dedicated to helping its member employers better understand and manage their workplace requirements & risks and also effectively implement high-impact workplace diversity, equity and inclusion programs.” The main challenge was migrating more than 6,000 pieces of content stored outside of iMIS while leveraging the inherent capabilities of iMIS to store, secure and curate all this valuable information. The 3 main stated goals were to: improve the user experience, increase the site functionality and effectively manage access to restricted content without sacrificing exposure to the general public.

Design

One of the main reason’s for this award is the inspired design. This design was created in collaboration with Phil Gosier and the vision of the CWC team including Joe Lakis, Rachel DesPlaines and Samantha Wittie. The new design was crafted to be both highly useable and aesthetically pleasing. The volume of designed graphics, icons and page elements was among the highest we have ever done for a client and the attention to detail on useability on all screens was equally impressive. As part of the visual design process much attention was also paid to the structural design of the new website as well. The CWC staff worked diligently to define their Information Architecture structure so the information is readily available, well defined and easy to maintain.

Implementation

A new website was created and implemented completely from scratch. New out of the box content areas were added so important information was pushed out to many pages from a single source. These include key search categories in the menu, feature boxes with the latest updates, a new alert box available on the top of the site and a variation of interior content headers for designated site sections were integrated into the template. Extra attention to detail was paid to responsiveness so every page both looked great and functioned well on every screen size from large monitors down to the smallest mobile phone. Previously built customizations were replaced with designed IQAs. A new corporate licensing system for data center access empowered company administrators to assign and control employee access. The new resource section of the website combined IQA and content tagging to create a highly functional interface to find pre-filtered lists of information or conduct a keyword search in a given website level and/or topic category of the website. Events and Learning offerings are presented in a highly styled and easy to navigate web pages.

Website Modernization Journey Continues

In the words of Joe Lakis, “Our website modernization journey is far from over but the steps we have taken over the past several months have set us on an excellent path”. Watch Joe Lakis discuss this award and look for more great things to come from the Center for Workforce Compliance. Congrats to all of the CWC for all of their hard work and a well deserved win. Looking forward to great things to come with the CWC!
